Effective August 9, 2026

DeckBeam collects no personal data. Audio capture, beat detection, and pattern rendering all happen on your device. Nothing about the music in the room, your patterns, or your settings is ever sent to a server.

What We Collect

Nothing. DeckBeam does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. The app has no user accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising SDK.

Microphone Access

DeckBeam requests microphone access to listen to the music playing in the room and detect beat onsets in real time. Audio is analyzed live, in memory, entirely on your device — it is never recorded to a file, saved, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere.

Photos & GIFs

If you import a photo or GIF as a custom pattern, it's copied into app-private storage on your device so it's available the next time you open DeckBeam. It is never uploaded or shared, and stays under your control — you can remove it at any time from the pattern list.

External Display Output

Video sent to an external display (over wired HDMI or AirPlay) is the rendered visual pattern only. No audio, camera, or personal data is included in that output.

Settings and Preferences

App preferences (enabled patterns, input selection, rotation mode, etc.) are stored locally on your device using iOS's standard UserDefaults mechanism. They are not synced, shared, or transmitted anywhere.

Third-Party Services

The DeckBeam app itself uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services and makes no network requests during normal use.

This Website

This website (deckbeam.chrisdailey.net) uses Help Scout Beacon to provide a support chat widget so you can reach us with questions or ask to be notified at launch. When you open the widget, Help Scout may set cookies and process the information you submit (such as your name, email address, and message) in order to deliver your request to us. See Help Scout's privacy policy for details. This is separate from the DeckBeam app itself, which remains fully offline as described above.

Children's Privacy

Because DeckBeam collects no data from anyone, it is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a future version of the app, the updated policy will be posted at this URL and the effective date above will be updated. Changes will only ever result from new features that are explicitly opt-in.
