Mobile DJs already move speakers, a booth, and a truss between venues on a schedule that doesn't leave room for extra setup time. A dedicated laser or moving-head rig adds cases, DMX cabling, and stands to the load-in — plus, if it's an actual laser, the same certification and venue-approval overhead that follows any Class 3B/4 device from gig to gig.
The trick
A projector and haze reads as the same show
DeckBeam drives a standard projector — one you may already own for slideshows or monograms — through wired HDMI or AirPlay. Add a small haze machine and its beam patterns cut through the room exactly like a real laser rig, with none of the laser diode, certification, or insurance overhead. It also listens through your phone's microphone, not a mixer line-out, so there's no dependency on which board happens to be at a given venue.
Fast between-gig setup
New venue, same two-minute setup
Plug your phone into whatever screen the venue has — HDMI or AirPlay — pick a pattern, and hit start. There's no calibration step and nothing venue-specific to configure, so the setup is identical whether you're in a hotel ballroom or a backyard tent.
Auto rotation
Set it and forget it for a long set — patterns rotate on their own and dim automatically between tracks.

Lock to one pattern when you want a specific look for a specific moment — a first dance, an announcement, a slow song.
